At Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, Minaj accepted the show’s lifetime achievement award for her artistry and global superstar status.
The honor is named after Michael Jackson, and Minaj gave him a shout-out during her acceptance speech.
In honoring other legends, MTV also awarded the Red Hot Chili Peppers with the Global Icon Award after being introduced by Cheech & Chong as their “favorite band of all time.”
Jack Harlow collected the show’s first award for his feature on Lil Nas X’s “Industry Baby,” which won the best collaboration.
Taylor Swift accepted the award for best long-form video for “All Too Well: The Short Film,” while Harry Styles won album of the year for “Harry’s House.”
At the end of the night, performing from New York’s Yankee Stadium, Bad Bunny took home artist of the year.
